Biography

Prof. Dr. Raimund Bleischwitz acts as Scientific Director of the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) in Bremen since January 2022. Before that, he served as the Chair, Sustainable Global Resources at University College London (UCL) and Director of the UCL Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources. He maintains an Honorary Professorial position at UCL. His research track record comprises the UKRI Circular Economy Centres on metals and construction materials, and the international collaborative project on the circular economy in China (SINCERE). He is a member of the DEFRA Resources and Waste Targets Expert Group and was a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on Circular Economy and Systemic Eco-Innovation. His research interests cover sustainable resource governance, blue economy, and the resource nexus, and resulted in more than 300 publications.
